Spa Weekend

The ladies from work and I decided to treck down towards the Polish/Slovakian border this weekend for a fun-filled Spa weekend. Kudos to Sue, who managed to navigate the two lane roads that Poles tend to turn into three lane roads. We all arrived safe and sound after a longer-than-expected eight hour drive. The first two hours were spent escaping Warsaw.

We went to the four star Irena Eris Hotel Spa in Krynica. The hotel was offering a spa weekend, that included a spa package, 2 nights hotel, and 5 meals for just over $200. Krynica is a cute little mountain town that is historically known for its natural springs. The water was readily available at the spa, and came in many flavors (including salt water and sweet water). Not really my favorite. In the winter, the town turns into a small ski resort.

We spent most of the weekend in our Spa-provided bath robes and slippers. Our packages included a facial massage, a partial massage, a hydromassage, and a scotch beating. I upgraded my massage to a full body massage and added a facial and pedicure.

The most amusing part of the entire weekend was by-far the scotch beating. Aparently this is known as a Scotch Hosing in the US. It was very much a prison-delousing-like experience. You go towards the end of a long, tunnel shaped room, and an employee of the spa hoses you down with high pressure hot and cold water. It feels like a water hose, and kind of stings. To make matters worse, I was the first person up for the treatment, had no clue what I was in for, and wound up having to do the whole thing naked! The other ladies, once they heard about the treatment, opted to bring bathing suits.

Next time, I'll stick to the hot tub.

Hmm... perhaps Blogger is experiencing problems. Or perhaps your pictures were just too large and therefore won't load. Or perhaps it's just the university's crappy computers. Or perhaps your post has caused an unraveling of the space-time continuum and other realities are starting to impose themselves on our own, which will eventually lead to the end of the universe as we know it (this is the theory I'm currently favoring).

But whatever the reason, I can't get your pictures to load and the formatting of our site is all jacked up.

It took me five tries to get the website post up - netscape kept crashing, so perhaps there is something wrong with blogger.

That, or the space-time continuum. :)

Hmmmm, my computer has no problem seeing your fabulous pictures...

I'm jealous of everything except the "Scotch Hosing". Also, I'd like you to know that I believe I have disturbed an entire floor of the school library because I involuntarily burst out laughing when I got to that part of the post.

Yes, as soon as I'd posted my comment the entire site came right up.

Once the space-time continuum knew that I was hip to what it was doing, it decided to straighten up and fly right.
