Congratulations/Happy Halloween/Happy Election Day
As the title notes, I'm a bit behind (yet again) on updating the blog. Dave and I got back from Megan's wedding last Monday completely exhausted. I went straight back to work which didn't help much, and then Halloween activities distracted me this weekend. I dressed up in my favorite costume - the 18th century robe francaise. Every time I wear it it looks better because I have more accessories. New this year were the 18th century shoes, silk stockings, fingerless gloves (yes, they're period), the hat, and I sprayed my cheap white costume wig gray for a better look. I love the dress so much I'm considering making another one once I finish my new 18th century corset. Maybe a blue dress with pleated trim instead of ruched trim, layered over ivory organza. Mmm...yummy. Here are some Halloween photos to tide you over:Dave made an appearance as a Jedi on Halloween night.Depending on who you asked, I was dressed as Mme. de Pompadour, Marie Antoinette, Elizabeth Swan, or (very disturbingly) Scarlet O'Hara. I had to work hard to bite my tongue at that last one. There were actually quite a few dogs dressed up out for a walk. Caly is the pumpkin, and I just HAD to get a picture of the wiener dog dressed up as a hot dog. We saw about five more dogs in various costumes that night.
I embraced the Elizabeth Swan thing (after several little girls said, LOOK, it's the girl from Pirates of the Caribbean), and practically tackled the first Jack the pirate for a photo. Here, my little puppy is showing her good taste as she gazes into the window of an art studio. For the most part, she was very curious and seemed to enjoy her Halloween outing. The outfit did not appear to bother her at all.
For those of you holding out for wedding photos, you'll have to sit tight for another week or so. The photographer is posting the pictures online, and since I was in the wedding party I didn't have a lot of time to take photos. I didn't even get photos of the wedding shower I put together because my camera's battery ran out! Ack!
Dave and I rolled out of bed at 5 am this morning to get in line and vote. We were pretty lucky - the line wasn't too long and once the polls opened we only had to wait for 40 minutes. I even managed to make into work at my regular time. Now that it's mid-day, I hear that the lines are wrapping around the block. Another neat thing about voting this morning - we were able to walk to the middle school that is literally right next to our apartment building. It didn't even take five minutes.
If you haven't yet, GO VOTE. One way or another you'll be able to tell your kids that you participated in a historical election.

Post your photos!!!
Voila - sorry, got a bit tied up with stuff this week.
The pictures were worth the wait. The doggie in the pumpkin suit is a great incongruity with your period-costume. :)
