The Kolo Market
Hurray for Anna being back in town!! I took advantage of the excuse to go to the Kolo flea market with Anna and rove about for the morning. I have to say I LOVE flea markets, and though 99% is nothing I would want, there's so much excitement when you locate that 1% that you MUST buy.
I of course did find something I couldn't live without. The last time I was at Kolo, I saw a statuette that I really wanted, but when I went back with my experienced bargaining friend, it was gone. Imagine my surprise when 2 months later the same salesman approached me and said he had another one.
After a half-hearted and clumsly bargaining attempt, I brought my bronze 5kg dancing lady home with me. Thank goodness Anna helped, or we would have never made it.
Another interesting part of the morning: Pani Eva, the Polish teacher bargaining goddess who introduced me to Kolo was with us again today. She was on a mission. Her appartment was robbed two weeks ago, and she was scouting for any of her items. Imagine our surprise when she found three of the together at one booth. She called the cops, and they hauled the guy off!! Amazing.

It looks funny to me to see the name "Kolo" since I know that this word is spelled with a "funny L" in Polish and is therefore pronounced "Ko-whoa." Or something close to that anyway.
It's funny, you can't find a funny L in the character map or anyplace online that I've encountered. I know this because I searched for 30 minutes for a funny L a few months ago when I did a post where I mentioned the word "Zlote" once.
For those who don't know, a "funny L" is an L with a slash cutting across the middle of it.
Melissa,
David said that you were worried that no one would read your post after wading through his inane diatribe. I just wanted you to know that, just for you, I waded through BOTH inane diatribes!
Love, Dave-Dad
Hurray!!! I feel loved now that everyone has read my post. :)
