And the wiener is...

Clearly the answer was 42.

Actually the answer was 3, but they're practically the same thing. Nikifor1 is quite well known here in Poland, so this particular painting not being granted export license wasn't a total shock for us.

Considering the number of fake Nikifor works that abound, we were actually quite impressed that we managed to pick up a real one.Jwan, I do find it funny (and suspicious) that you guessed the correct answer since I heard Melissa tell you the answer on the phone. She insists that she didn't, but she also insists that espresso is pronounced "expresso." So there you have it.

As to what we're going to do with our national treasure: we're probably going to donate it to the office or sell it to someone who's remaining behind in Poland. We haven't decided yet.

It's one of those or a Mission Impossible style exfiltration of the illicit booty from the country.

I just don't think I care enough about the painting to hang upside-down from an air conditioning duct for it.

1 No "What's a Niki for?" jokes allowed. I've already made them all.

My"Oh so suspicious, son-in-law, I heard nothing because you were talking in the background saying, "Don't tell her! Let her guess." So she didn't tell me. At least if she did I didn't hear it--really. I just chose the one I thought was the best one. Obviously, I have exquisite and exceptional taste. MIL
