A Very H(cr)appy New Year
Our New Year's Eve was spent more or less like any other. We woke, we had breakfast, we lazed around for a bit after Melissa got off early from work, and then we went to the emergency room.
Evidently Melissa wasn't happy with the number of toes she previously had working, so she decided to "accidentally" slam one against a door frame on Sunday night. She then gave it another good whack on Wednesday afternoon for good measure.
Look inside the red circle on the photo above and you can see how successful she was in her endeavors. That little spur that's kind of hanging out by itself as though the other bones don't want to be its friend? Yeah, that's supposed to be attached.
For her efforts Melissa got a free ride to the hospital (and free parking!1), a cool see-through picture of her foot, pain killers, a really stylin' blue walking boot, and a trip to IHOP!
And what did I get? I got food poisoning at IHOP.
Happy New Year!2

1Only because it was a holiday. As though going to the hospital weren't expensive enough they make you pay for parking too.
2I was going to say that I hope everyone had a better New Year's than we did, but I decided that probably went without saying.

The good news is the swelling and bruising are definitely going down. I originally thought I'd just stubbed it - I should have known that the immediate nausia that followed smashing my toe probably indicated a break.
I'm proud to say I maintained my composure during both toe impacts - NOT. Poor Dave. He bore the brunt of my paid induced foul mood.
ok, that last line should say "pain" not "paid". I really wish I could edit comments.
