Alright, alright…

Okay, after much whining from certain individuals who shall remain nameless (*cough* Anna *cough*) we’re finally posting some pictures of our apartment. I’ll make some comments within the body of this post itself, but to save space I’ve put additional comments into the picture mouse-overs. To see the mouse-over caption just let your pointer rest over each picture… hence the name.

On a side note, I apologize if the pictures seem a bit dark. They always look fine on my laptop, but seem much darker on this computer. It's probably just my monitor settings, but I thought I'd mention it anyway to relieve some of the guilt my perfectionist side feels for not posting stunningly perfect pictures.

Other features of this picture include: the door to the laundry room, the tulips that Gidget is intent on destroying before their time, a box of tissue which I normally wouldn’t mention but they’re really cool because the tissues alternate colors each time you pull one out, and some random paperwork that’s been left out on the countertop. Fascinating!

This first picture should be fairly self-evident (It’s our kitchen for those of you not from planet Earth. Hi Zaphod!). The only major feature of our kitchen that you can’t see in this photo is our refrigerator. Because it’s invisible.

To give you some idea of perspective, I was standing behind the kitchen counter while taking this photo and you can see a couple of the dining room chairs in the foreground. The curtains on the left are blocking our door out onto the balcony. And yes, for those of you who are wondering, we have more lamps than we know what to do with. For now they’re just sitting around unplugged. I’m sure I’ll build a fort or something out of them eventually.

The living room is where I generally sit while composing these masterpieces on my laptop. In fact, you can see my laptop sitting there on the coffee table just waiting for me to come along and create greatness on its keyboard.

If I could have gotten just a bit more of the room into the photo you would see our Welcome Kit Computer to the left. It’s where I upload these masterpieces onto the site once I’ve finished composing them on my laptop.

This is our office/guest bedroom. The sofa there at the far end is actually a pullout (an insanely expensive pullout as we found out yesterday) which has never been used before. Literally. We opened it just to check it out and the mattress was still in its original factory plastic wrap.

No, we haven’t abandoned our sheets because the fitted sheet refuses to stay on the bed; the sheets are just being washed at the moment.

There’s actually quite a bit more to our bedroom than is shown in this picture, unfortunately this is about as much of it as I could get into a single picture and I didn’t want to bore my readers any further with more pictures of empty bookcases.

I’m convinced that she’s not actually getting up there. I think she’s somehow doing it with mirrors, but I’ve yet to figure out the secret of her trick. So tell me, have you read all of these? You must have as much time on your hands as I do.This picture is also from the bedroom. Because Europeans don’t believe in built-in closets, we have this lovely piece of furniture in one corner of our bedroom. Gidget just figured out how to get up there two days ago and she now spends quite a bit of time up there. Personally, I think she dislikes the 7 foot jump down to the floor so she only comes down when it’s absolutely necessary.

The famous heated towel rack and the sink and to the right in this picture. Again, because of the size of the room I couldn’t get everything into one shot. Truthfully, the bathtub isn’t as big as it looks in this picture. You just think it looks big next to the toilet. In truth, the Polish toilets are about the size of mayonnaise jar, so the tub is actually quite small.

Last, and certainly least, is the bathroom. We actually have two bathrooms, but the other one is pretty basic and it would be silly to post a picture of it. Frankly, I feel a little silly posting this one, but the bathtub has been the source of much curiosity from our fans.

That concludes the photographic tour of our apartment. Join us next time as we take a photographic tour of the embassy and get jumped by the Uzi toting police officers for violating the no pictures signs.

A lamp fort! I love it!! Where were you when I was 6???

I think you two ought to be a little worried about Gidget ... she has clearly established a lair on top of that armoire, and she seems to be plotting.

Aha! A guest room! I know where I'll be staying come July! I expect the wrapping to still be on it.
