Frozen Water, Frozen Water, Infant
I've often heard it said in the summer, "It's hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk." However, it seems that there is some unwritten rule that says for a normal person to attempt this is "childish," but when a TV news-reporter gets out and does it, it's "newsworthy."
In any event, I've come up with a new egg-related weather comment for winter use:
"It's cold enough to explode an egg out there."
Not only is it cool because it deals with exploding something, but it also rocks because it has been the literal truth here in Poland for the last four or five days. I'm sure many of you have read about the cold snap that's hit Russia, the Ukraine, and parts of Europe over the last several days. Well, lucky, lucky us; we happen to be in one of the parts of Europe affected by said cold snap.
Monday through Thursday the temperatures here ranged from a high of -29°F to a low of -49°F for that four day period. That's before taking little things like wind chill, snow, ice, and crazy Polish drivers into account. One would think that a country that has snow on the ground 9 out 12 months of the year would produce at least one driver who can drive in wintry conditions, but no1.
Moving along. I want to wish everyone a very happy Trogday. Be sure you buy him something nice or you risk being burninated. Ye hath been warned.
Last, but certainly not milk-toast, I wanted to just make note of a few webpage administrative-type things:
- Because the Child's Play charity drive is technically "over," I've removed the banner from the top of the site. However, they do still accept donations all year long so I've placed a smaller version of the banner in our links section on the right-hand side of the page. The charity drive generated $605,000 to help sick kids this past year! Thanks to everyone who donated!
- I've also removed the counters from the top of the page. Since I'm back in Warsaw now there's obviously no reason to continue counting down the days until my return2. Fear not! I'm sure the count down timer will return to help count down the seconds until the next auspicious occurrence in our lives3!
- I've also cleaned up the links section a bit. It was getting kind of grungy looking. Would you people please wash your hands before coming to our site and wiping your hands all over everything!?
-Dave
1This is technically not accurate. Poland has produced exactly three drivers who can drive in the snow. Unfortunately all three of them have been killed due to snow related accidents caused by Polish taxi drivers who, oddly enough, are forbidden to know how to drive in general, snow or not.
2I suppose I could, but it would seem kind of silly.
3Our "wishlist" webpage currently has 4 of them. I was going to post a link to it, but I decided I really didn't want everyone to have our email addresses, mailing address, birthdays, penguin breeder registration number, telephone numbers, and anniversary; especially not with the kinds of people who read this site.

Just feeling the need to thank all y'all for the copious updates. They're much appreciated. I don't know what I'd do without your website to read when I'm supposed to be working on something else...
It's even colder than Vermont there! MIL (Monster in Law)
Okay, I've been feeling a bit slow the past few days which is why I've hesitated to comment. But I still don't get your title ... the "frozen water" but I understand ... but "Infant"??
Help me, my brain hurts.
Sigh. Anna, you disappoint me. I thought that you of all people would get that one. Umm... I'm not sure why. Perhaps because you're just insane enough to follow the twisted paths of my mind. Or so I thought anyway.
Maybe it would have helped if I have put the word "Vanilla" at the beginning of the title.
You know? "Ice, Ice, Baby."
Yes, I know. I need to get out more.
Boo. Bad David.

The things you link to when your mother tells you that your cousin Melissa and her husband have a blog and you finally take a minute to check it out.
For the record, I got the Frozen Water reference and it cracked (in honor of ice and eggs) me up.
Hi John!! Welcome to the blog. Come back and visit often. Dave is thrilled that someone got the joke.
Someone got my joke!
It is officially time for Dave's Happy Dance!
