Falling Through the Table
We know that everyone has been dying for updates since our last post about the house. Dave and I have been very busy, fighting our sluggish lending company and getting last minute vital documents from the seller. In the end, the deal just did not come together: our confidence in our lending company was shaken (bad good faith estimates, and can nobody be bothered to EVER answer their phone???), and we had problems with the Condo Association. We decided we needed to walk away from the Condo over the weekend, and voided our contract. While we really wanted the Condo, we were having so many problems that it was a relief to walk away.
We've learned a lot for our next house buying experience, and the whole thing hopefully won't cost us too much money (we are supposed to get our deposit back due to documentation issues with the Condo Association). I think we're definitely never purchasing a house again on such a short time table, and I'm not sure I could ever go through the same lender again.
It was a bittersweet end to our homeleave, but we're looking forward to arriving in Brussels. I started back to work last week for training, and we're headed out at the end of the week. We're looking forward to seeing you all in Belgium.
