Hershey's Bliss
**Please also check out our weekend at Fort Frederick, which is posted on my costume website.
I sometimes like to do things a bit backwards, so when I found out that our household shipment is arriving next week, I thought NOW would be the perfect time for a housewarming party. I suppose that decision was based on both vanity and impatience: our apartment is looking really cute without all the 'stuff' that's about to descend on us, and I just couldn't wait the extra month it will take us to whip it back into shape. Here's me and Risa, looking fabulous and showing off the new furniture at the party.
So now you're probably wondering about the title of this blog entry. I already knew I wanted to have a party when I heard about an interesting website called House Party. The website is a method of advertising for various products - on a select few days, one product is featured at over 10,000 private house parties nationwide.
What on earth does this have to do with my housewarming party? Well, I happened to notice that Hershey was sponsoring a House Party Event, and decided 'what the heck?', and applied to be a Hostess. So here we are, a month later, and I got to have a Chocolate themed house party featuring over six pounds of free chocolate, courtesy of Hershey. Here is the chocolate mudslide I came up with as our signature drink:
We had a good turn out and as always provided waaay to much food. One menu featured Chocolate fondue, chocolate cake, the new Hershey's Bliss chocolate candies, chicken mole sandwiches (one of the ingredients is Cocoa), chocolate chip cookies, and lots of other 'real' food to prevent anyone from going into chocolate shock. Here's a picutre of our buffet set up before the party (there was a lot more food in the kitchen):
So thank you to everyone for coming, we had a really great time and will have you back once the chaos of our move is over. I'd also highly recommend HouseParty.com if anyone wants to try it out. There really wasn't a whole lot expected of us - the website helped with electronic invitations, provided party ideas, and a box full of goodies for the party (including goody bags). None of the current offerings really caught my eye, but maybe one might catch yours. Enjoy, and until next time.
