Meet Mr. Bear. He was a gift to me from Dave before I left for Africa. I started putting Mr. Bear into Calypso's crate at night so that she would have something to cuddle with. Our puppy book said that dogs find stuffed animals comforting.

Imagine our surprise when Caly began showing quite a bit of aggression towards poor Mr. Bear. At first it was just a bit of chewing and nibbling, but then it turned into a wrestling match. Caly would grab onto the unsuspecting bear, and then vigorously shake her head, flinging Mr. Bear to and fro'.

Calypso kept this up for a few days until we noticed that she was particularly focused on Mr. Bear's T-shirt. She was slowly but surely prying the shirt right off his back. She also began showing a disturbing fascination for Dave's hand exerciser, carrying the heavy thing around the room like a prize and chomping on the hard plastic.

We finally solved the mystery. Our adorable little angel of a puppy is a bully. She was pumping iron so that she could mug the adorable little plushy. Poor Mr. Bear is still recovering from his last run-in with Caly:

Caly, meanwhile, seems thrilled with her boon. She has been leaving Mr. Bear alone ever since she literally ripped the shirt right off of his back. Much to her delight, Mr. Bear's T-shirt was a perfect fit. One has to wonder if our clever little doggy can read. Why else would she be so determined to claim the "Someone at Maryland Loves Me" T-shirt?

All joking aside, Calypso is doing really well. She's got a healthy appetite now that all her parasite problems have been taken care of, and she's making headway on housebreaking. Next time, we're going to put up a video of her doing some tricks - we're still trying to master a few, but she's already got an impressive little repertoire.
If you're wondering why we're not posting more pictures of Caly or posting more often, it's because a four month old puppy is quite and handful!! She is taking a nap right now, so I was finally able to sneak away to the computer.

Parasite problems??
Yeah, Caly's just one big parasite. :) She had two kind of intestinal parasites that had to be taken care of after her first vet visit. I was horrified when the vet told us that if we weren't careful she could transmit one of them to us. I've already had the misfortune of having that particular parasite - thank you Africa. They're all taken care of now (the vet will confirm this on Friday when she goes back, but we can tell she's better).
